How it works

  1. Paste Markdown into the input box, or drop a .md file onto the converter.
  2. The preview shows how the document will look. Edit the Markdown until it’s right.
  3. Click Download .docx. Your browser builds the Word file on your device and saves it.

Private by design: your file is converted on your device and is never uploaded. The conversion runs inside this browser tab with no server step, and your file isn't saved anywhere. Close the tab and it's gone.

Limitations

  • Images are not embedded. Each image’s alt text is kept in its place.
  • HTML tags inside the Markdown are dropped; the text between them is kept.
  • Footnotes and math are not converted and come through as plain text. Diagram code (such as Mermaid) stays a code block.
  • The document uses simple default formatting (Calibri, plain heading styles). Apply your own Word styles or template afterwards.
  • Numbered lists always start at 1.

Is Markdown to Word the same as Markdown to DOCX?
Yes. .docx is the file format Word uses, so this converter turns Markdown into a .docx file.
Will the file open in Google Docs, Pages or LibreOffice?
Yes. It is a standard .docx file, so any app that opens Word documents can open it.
Are tables supported?
Yes. Markdown pipe tables become Word tables with a bold header row, and column alignment from the Markdown is kept.
Is my Markdown uploaded?
No. The preview and the Word file are both made by your browser, on your device. Nothing you paste or upload is sent anywhere.
